Week 6

Part 1: Help Your Teammates Develop Capstone Ideas

This week, our team shared and discussed potential capstone project ideas in our team chat. Here’s a summary of the conversation:

  • Josh G suggested a public key encryption system using LinkedIn/GitHub profiles and a digital twin for a parking lot using a vision model. He also expressed interest in Chris’s AI school work organizer.

  • AJMartinez shared ideas including a video game project, a secure database system, and a skateboarding app for sharing street spots. The street spot idea stood out as practical and engaging.

  • Christopher Buenrostro proposed a live notebook that digitizes handwritten notes, an AI school work organizer integrated with Canvas, and a collaborative whiteboard for studying and coding sessions.

  • Murtaza Badri suggested a waste classification bot and a smart trail recommender for hikers.

  • Rasna (me) proposed a mental health check-in/journaling app using sentiment analysis and a group study scheduler that syncs multiple calendars to find optimal meeting times.

From these discussions, several ideas stood out to me: the AI school work organizer for its potential to simplify students’ workloads, the mental health journaling app for supporting student well-being, and the group study scheduler for coordinating busy schedules efficiently.

Part 2: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

This week, I learned more about team collaboration and idea development for the capstone project. I also gained insights from the career guide about aligning projects with real-world applications and the importance of problem-solving skills in tech roles.

Our team has started actively sharing project ideas and giving feedback. We’re exploring which ideas are feasible and impactful while considering our technical skills and time constraints. I’ve learned that discussing projects as a team helps refine ideas and identify unique angles that could make a capstone project both innovative and practical.

In particular, I appreciated the feedback from teammates suggesting AI-driven solutions and collaboration tools, as these approaches align with current technology trends and could create meaningful applications for students.
